Description
As the phrase says "In this place everything is forgiven, except being poor." This work is inspired by the style of the artist Jimmy Alonzo and describes a social reality called "Doña Florinda Syndrome" written by the Argentine Rafael Ton. 'Doña Florinda syndrome' refers to people who despise people with fewer economic resources than them and think they belong to a high social class when in reality they are working class from a poor neighborhood. Although they share the same financial problems, the "Florindos" and "Florindas" strive to give a different image to their situation: they live on appearances, acquiring objects and clothes beyond their financial reach with the sole purpose of showing off and belittling others. . Their contemptuous attitude towards their neighbors reflects a current economic reality, and shows how in society there is a marked division between social classes, where some individuals compare themselves with the wealthy class or "high society" of whom they are only employees. They lack empathy, they share fake news, they vote for the millionaire, but they eat, live and work in ghettos along with their less fortunate neighbors.
