Description

This work is a color replica of the caricatures by the Argentine artist Quino, published in his book "Mundo Quino" (1963). Quino used graphic humor to expose the inequalities, hypocrisies, and absurdities of society. His cartoons reflected themes such as bureaucracy, authoritarianism, workplace alienation, poverty, and the indifference of the privileged classes. Although inspired by the context of the 1960s (Cold War, burgeoning consumerism, social tensions), his works avoided direct temporal references, making them applicable to multiple eras and societies, including our own. His protagonists were ordinary men and women—office workers, housewives, beggars, bureaucrats—trapped in oppressive routines or absurd situations that challenged "progress" and "normality." With simple yet enormously expressive lines, Quino managed to convey complex emotions (despair, incomprehension, irony) without the need for lengthy dialogues. Many panels raised questions about the meaning of life, urban loneliness, and the loss of humanity in a mechanized world.
