My Little Daughter

Description

I painted this painting inspired by the birth of my daughter. In this picture, my baby is in the middle of a field of flowers typical of German gardens and tropical flowers, representing her maternal and paternal sides, respectively. The tropical flowers represent the diversity of Ecuador's flora, such as passifloras, brugmansias, anthuriums, alocasias, bromeliads, philodendrons, heliconeas, and orchids. Among the "typical" European flowers are roses, daisies, sunflowers, tulips, begonias, calla lilies, peonies, ibiscus, poppies, and garden pansies. My daughter has blonde hair and a streak of dark hair, as her mother's and father's sides. The cyan bow and pink blanket are the same ones her grandmother hand-knitted. The six angels represent the six months of pregnancy, the time at which I began this painting. As a detail, there are three blonde angels and three angels with dark hair, representing the baby's grandparents and parents. Finally, my daughter's name and birth details are displayed next to her. This work belongs to my private collection, along with other paintings that I hold dear.
