It is a side view portrait with a ranunculus flower as background. Bright colors with dominant green tones. Asymmetrical composition and emphasis by contrast . Central focus with shadow effect highlighting the flowers and figure.
Painting style: art nouveau and magic realism.
Description
Sarah is one of the first custom surreal portrait practices I've done. We discussed the design of the idea between the two of us one autumn day in Münster. Sarah, as the main character, is surrounded by Ranunkel flowers that are her favorite. She is dressed in a white silk cloak with Paeonia embroidery that moves in the breeze and is surrounded by a halo of light that illuminates the darkness. Thanks to her support, Sarah's portrait is an important step to the portrait painting I wish to develop for future paintings. As Oscar Wilde said “every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter. The sitter is merely the accident, the occasion. It is not he who is revealed by the painter; it is rather the painter who, on the colored canvas, reveals himself.”
