In Ecuador, the "gusanito" is not a specific vehicle brand or model, but rather a popular nickname that refers to a type of informal transportation vehicle very characteristic in some cities, especially in rural or semi-urban areas. The "gusanito" is an adapted van or pickup truck, generally used as public transportation. It is common to find this type of transportation in tourist cities, especially at night. In this painting, one of these vehicles is seen in an alley where the passengers are represented by animals.
