Description
This painting is inspired by the summer celebrations between family and friends based on the classic fantastic tales such as The Wind in the Willows, a novel written by the Scottish writer Kenneth Grahame. In the painting, there are several characters who meet in the garden. The white rabbit is inspired by the rabbits that live on the university campus while the squirrels are the ones I have seen in the park. The frog that lives in the pond, the bumblebee that collects pollen, the ladybug that eats aphids, and the snail that ate all the vegetables are also represented. The South American opossum, although not typical of Europe, was painted as a special guest. Finally, the garden gnome represents the superstition that they take care of homes, protect from thieves and bring good luck.
