Description
This work is a fusion of classic fairy tales represented with my young daughter's toys. To celebrate my baby's birth, many people gave her various stuffed animals, which I decided to paint as a keepsake. The toy band is led by a rag doll dressed in traditional Otavalo indigenous clothing, carrying her little girl on her back. A stuffed cat plays the cello, with a small bird perched on the end. A polar bear plays the flute, and a teddy bear plays the tuba (a gift from her grandfather). The giraffe, a gift from my aunt, plays the trombone, and a little fabric bird plays the guitar. The painting includes German caricatures such as Bernd das Brot and the Blue Elephant. The background is an autumn landscape, the time when I painted this work.
